An ‘ alteration ‘ to this category …

Since I’m somewhat tardy on posting my own , in frequent at this time , artistic endeavors , I’ve added others to contribute to the content …

I’ll choose the one’s that have both ‘ artistic merit ‘ and also a good ‘ wit ‘ to their inspiration … The inaugural pic is a political cartoon from Mike Harris .. I believe I’ve posted one or two of his before , so I’ll keep an eye out for more in the future …

An editorial cartoonist’s job is to use visual cues to comment on the political climate. That involves a strongly held opinion , politically charged imagery , and a tight deadline. It also means they can push the boundaries of good taste in an attempt to make a point.

Recent drawings reflecting on the SNC-Lavalin scandal that’s dominated headlines are being criticized for depicting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau inflicting violence on former Veterans Affairs minister Jody Wilson-Raybould.

While the images function to criticize Trudeau for ” muzzling ” the former minister , many detractors say they have the unintended consequence of trivializing violence against women.

Former Dartmouth-North MLA Joanne Bernard told Global News that the cartoon was ” in extremely poor taste ” and that she hoped it would be taken down.

” Add in the context of Jody … being an Indigenous woman , there’s a sensitivity around missing and murdered Indigenous wom … BLAH BLAH BLAH … Indigenous women face disproportionate violence … BLAH BLAH …They’re also seven times more likely to be murdered by ser … BLAH BLAH BLAH … This  is completely unacceptable to make jest of in any way , shape or form “…

YOUR mind travels to that destination … All that is something YOU have to deal with … What this says to the vast majority of intelligent people , who are no way involved in that abhorrent type of behavior , zero on the the actual , succinct purpose of the drawing , which is to bring to light an elected official utilizing his place in office to circumvent the law , plus ‘ gag ‘ the supposed ‘ independent ‘ bureaucracy in attempts to mislead the electorate away from his / hers indiscretions  …

That fact that OUR mind quickly ends up their is something for YOU to reflect upon and attempt to find some solution to that entirely different and separate issue …

Ya gotta love us artists !!! … Especially those of us that possess a good sense of humour as well !!! …

The crux of the SNC-Lavalin affair is a question of whether the prime minister pressured Wilson-Raybould — who was attorney general — to resolve the corruption and fraud case against the Montreal-based company.

” The intent of the cartoon was not to attack ( Jody Wilson-Raybould ) — it was intended to attack the Liberals ” de Adder said.

No kidding ! … Most of us understand that …

But many online critics are stuck in the same quagmire of the ‘ OMG !!!  He’s PROMOTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN !!! ‘ … And did not interpret the cartoon as intended.

Some on Twitter thought de Adder was trying to make a joke out of violence against women and even encouraging it.

Others said the cartoon was in poor taste , because it didn’t take into consideration violence against women and , in particular , violence against Indigenous women and their families.

It could have been the case that a ‘ white male ‘ of Anglo-Saxon ancestry was the Minister of Justice at this time and the indigenous and woman issue would be moot … Unless he was gay ! … OH SHIT NO !!! … Here we go with THAT one !!! …

This is just the ‘ liberals ‘ attempting to cloud the issue in hopes it will fade away by the time people head to the ballot box …

This is for my muckin’ about with my artwork and exploring Photoshop … I need to get an updated scanner … Much bigger than the one that I have that is extremely outdated now … It was top of the line when I bought it , but I needed then , as now , a bigger area to scan … That way I can do my actual ‘ art ‘ on here … There’s too many clowns out there that have learned how to perform a few tasks in Photoshop and think they’re an ‘ artist ‘ …

Oh well … That’s WAAAaay down the list of priorities at the moment !!! …
