I think I’ve hit the age where it’s not so much that I’m a grouchy old bastard but that I’ve given up being politically correct and started saying what’s on my mind. Like last weekend while I was digging up some old roots and found this hunk of ¾” rebar about 24” long . . . spent the rest of the day thinking about journalists and members of Congress who need to be hit repeatedly with it.
Politicians . . . Shi’ite! They profess love for their fellow man, but once in office that love becomes rape. They advocate progress for constituents but become addicted to power. They flavor every speech with what’s good for “the American people” but spend all their energy accumulating wealth at taxpayers’ expense.
The natural lifecycle progression of a politician at the higher levels of central government begins with humanitarianism and ends in hubris; it morphs from compassion to complacency; it goes from spotlight to gaslight; it starts out as moral and declines into malfeasance; it comes in with gospel but goes out with greed.
And “journalists” . . . Sheeesh!! It’s time, IMO, to shut down the 24/7 self-repeating hysteria generators and go back to weather and traffic reports at breakfast, business and political headlines at lunch, and international news and commentary at suppertime with video of catastrophes and tragedies at 2300 for whoever wants to see that kinda stuff.
Also about time to get rid of the long-in-the-tooth fossils and octogenarians in Washington trying desperately to remember what they said in a press conference a couple weeks ago. Goddamit, I’m 81 and fully realize that my cerebral powers are nowhere near what they were 25 years ago. The biggest decisions I should be making is what to wear in the morning and what to have for lunch.
But Shrillary, who spends most of her day trying to determine which of her chins is the original, is posturing to run again. In January 2025 she’ll be nearly the same age FJB was at HIS inauguration. Her biggest decisions should be how to stop making a fool of herself and how much longer she can drink that stuff and expect her liver to function …
If she runs, I have little doubt that the vote count will be 99,000,000 for her and 40,000,000 for whomever she runs against. You can bet the DNC is already out there recruiting technicians to rig voting machines, a bunch of guys named Carmine and Vito to hijack boxes of ballots, and squads of frustrated hausfraus, climate warriors, and Tinker Belles to create false ones …
