Trump says protesters would have met ‘ vicious dogs ’ …

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday said demonstrators protesting the death of a black man who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck would have been “ greeted with the most vicious dogs , and most ominous weapons , I have ever seen.”

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser , a Democrat , responded to the Republican president on Twitter, saying there “ are no vicious dogs & ominous weapons. There is just a scared man.”

“ While he ( Trump ) hides behind his fence afraid / alone , I stand w / people peacefully exercising their First Amendment Right after the murder of #GeorgeFloyd and hundreds of years of institutionalized racism,” said Bowser, who is black …

Those last three words pretty much sum it up !!! …

I mean REALLY ?!!! … ” Peacefully protesting ” ?!!! … Assaulting , destroying shops and stores … Burning cars and attacking police in too many states ?!!! …

“ Some of the demonstrators were violent ” and assaulted Secret Service personnel with bricks , bottles , fireworks and other objects , and an undisclosed number of Secret Service officers were injured , the statement said …

Yeah right Muriel … ” Peaceful protest ” …

5:05 P.M. UPDATE :

This is the shocking moment a protester charged with four counts of attempted murder appears to throw a Molotov cocktail at an occupied NYPD police cruiser.

Samantha Shader , 27 , is accused of chucking the petrol bomb at the police vehicle – which had four officers inside – in Brooklyn shortly after 10.30pm on Friday.

Footage obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com shows as a woman prepares the explosive before returning to throw it at the van.

Again , this is ” peaceful protest ” ?!!!! …

5:18 UPDATE II :

Are the police in this country over-militarized , and under-accountable for jackassery ?
Hell yes.

If that ( or anything else , frankly ) pisses you off , do you have the absolute inalienable right , under the US Constitution , to peaceably assemble , exercise your free speech , and petition the government for redress of grievances ?
Hell yes.

But the minute any part of your herd of halfwits breaks the law , and starts rioting , looting , and committing arson , you’re simply terrorist thugs , and TPTB should begin gunning you down with extreme prejudice , using lead bullets , not rubber ones , and anyone taken alive should receive a PR-24 shampoo all the way from the scene to the lock-up , and any bail set ( should anyone think you even merit same ) should be set at the levels normally reserved for terrorists with a side-gig in molesting children.

And anything you had to say on the original topic goes up in the smoke of those storefronts.
Forever.

Cold Anger …

When we see that justice is measured, not by due process, but by compulsion; when we see that in order to invoke our right to due process, we need to obtain permission from those who rebuke the constitution; when we see that justice is determined by those who leverage, not in law, but in politics; when we see that representatives get power over individual liberty by graft and by scheme, and our representatives don’t protect us against them, but protect them against us; when we see corruption holding influence and individual liberty so easily dispatched and nullified; we may well know that our freedom too is soon to perish …

Foolishness and betrayal of our nation have served to reveal dangers within our present condition. Misplaced corrective action, regardless of intent, is neither safe nor wise. We know exactly who Donald Trump is, and we also know what he is not. He is exactly what we need at this moment. He is a necessary glorious bastard …

When the well attired leave the checkout line carrying steaks and shrimp using an EBT card, the door is still held open; yet notations necessarily embed.

When the U.S. flags lay gleefully undefended, they do not lay unnoticed. When the stars and stripes are controversial, yet a foreign flag is honored – we are paying attention.

When millionaire football players kneel down rather than honor our fallen soldiers and stand proud of our country, we see that. Check the NFL TV ratings – take note …

Do nothing and we lose. Go to the mattresses, and we might win. The choice is ours …

Senior left behind at Ontario care home after it was evacuated due to coronavirus outbreak

An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Rosslyn Retirement Residence in Hamilton , Ontario resulted in dozens of residents and staff being evacuated , with one resident being forgotten and left behind at the home on Friday , according to CBC.

The man’s family had to repeatedly insist that he wasn’t at the hospital to which the other residents had been transferred.

It wasn’t until Saturday evening before the mistake was discovered and it became understood that the man was still at the Rosslyn Retirement Residence.

It was around 7:30 p.m. when the man was discovered back at the home , alone in his room. He was the only one there.

The outbreak caused regular staff to become infected and others to self-isolate. As such , the usual staff was not on hand to conduct the evacuation.

Those who handled the evacuation of residents were not familiar with the residence , and did not have a master list of those who were being cared for at the home.

Those health-care workers who were called into help were unaware of how many people were present at the time of the crisis. Additionally , they were under the impression that the man who was eventually left behind had previously been transferred to the hospital.

” This was clearly not something anybody would have intended to do ” said Winnie Doyle , executive vice-president of clinical operations at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton , which was assisting with the transfers.

She said that , ” It was a mistake and I heard from the family on Saturday that they were very concerned.”

Doyle said that the man’s family had been , ” trying to contact the home all day and , in fact , I think a family member had gone to the home at one point.”

Once Doyle learned of their concern , she called the Rosslyn home. Doyle was put in touch with security there and they then discovered the man in his room.

The man was ” alert ” upon his discovery , according to Doyle , who would not provide further details to protect the man’s privacy. He has since been transferred to the COVID-19 unit at St. Joe’s Charlton Campus and remains in stable condition.

In the time that passed while the man was forgotten , Doyle assured the press that he had access to a washroom although could not verify whether or not he had access to his medication.

” We did respond back there for a patient on Saturday ,” said Hamilton paramedic superintendent Dave Thompson , who said he was not fully aware of the nature of the call.

The 52 Rosslyn residents were transferred to two different hospitals , the bulk of which went to St. Joe’s.

” The home wasn’t meeting the safety standards that needed to be met ,” said Doyle , who referred to the outbreak as ” a very serious concern ” given the number of residents infected.

It took approximately eight hours to transfer everybody from the home to St. Joe’s and the transfer was a ” co-ordinated effort ” between Hamilton EMS, police , hospitals and the Rosslyn home.

Doyle believes the man was missed because the regular staff at Rosslyn Residence have already been diagnosed with the virus and weren’t at work because they were in self-isolation. ” There wasn’t one regular member of the staff working in the home ” said Doyle.

On top of that the residence did not have a master list of the Rosslyn residents that was up-to-date , leaving the paramedics and staff assisting with the transfer without the proper information. The staff tried to assemble the resident’s records themselves , however there was another problem which was that the home told them that the man had already been transferred to a the hospital the week before when the outbreak was initially declared on May 10.

Public health officials reported that as of Tuesday , the home had 63 resident cases at the 64-unit home. An additional 20 members of the staff had also already tested positive and two residents had died.

” We had been told by the home that the individual had been transferred to the hospital earlier in the week ” said Doyle.

” These are people who … are exceptional clinicians and practitioners with extremely high standards and this was nothing but extremely distressing to them once we were aware this situation had occurred ” said continued.

The hospital continues to investigate how the error occurred.

” It’s a situation everybody would want to avoid ” said Doyle. ” We’ve absolutely had some learning from this.”

Doyle said ultimately the responsibility lies with the owner and operator of the Rosslyn Residence , saying , ” once you get into this sort of a crisis situation … we need to be very clear so everybody fully understands their accountability and responsibility.”

Another ‘ temporary ‘ tax …

Europe

As small businesses begin the arduous task of reopening amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic , some have opted to tack on a COVID-19 surcharge to their receipts in an effort to recoup funds spent on new sanitation and physical distancing measures.

The so-called ” COVID fee ” is designed to help cover the cost of personal protective equipment ( PPE ) for employees , increased sanitation measures , or income lost from reducing the number of customers a business is allowed to serve based on physical distancing measures.

Hair salons and restaurants are among the first to embrace the surcharge in provinces where they have been allowed to reopen , such as British Columbia , but experts warn it’s a delicate balance to strike at a time when consumers are wary about spending.

Mandy McFadden , owner of Newmarket , Ont.-based Salon Decorum , told CTVNews.ca Thursday. She says the cost of business has increased significantly for hair salons whose supplies have skyrocketed in price. A box of gloves used for colour services used to cost the salon $8.95 plus tax per unit. McFadden’s distributors are now charging up to $20 per box.

McFadden said she and other salon owners she has spoken with will undoubtedly be forced to increase their prices in order to acclimatize to the new cost of business. But she is against the idea of instituting a COVID-19 surcharge , saying that the constant reminder of COVID-19 stamped on a receipt is no way to move forward …

Get over it Roger ! …

(L-R) Former Pink Floyd bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour.

Roger Waters took to Facebook on Tuesday , calling out his former Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour for supposedly banning him from using the legendary rock band’s website or social media platforms to promote his own solo work.

In the five-minute video rant , entitled “ ANNOUNCEMENT ,” Waters , 76 , said : “ Nothing from me is on the website. I am banned by David Gilmour from the website.”

“ David thinks he owns [ Pink Floyd ] ,” he added , suggesting Gilmour , 74 , had taken charge of the band’s publicity since his departure in 1985 , despite the group disbanding altogether in 1994.

Waters continued : “ I think he thinks because I left the band in 1985 that he owns Pink Floyd , that he is Pink Floyd , and that I’m irrelevant , and that I should keep my mouth shut.”

“ We’re all welcome to our opinions ” he said sarcastically …

As much as I love the product he was A PART OF creating in the 70’s ( the ONE album his tunehead buddy Syd was on was complete crap !!! … ) I’ve grown very annoyed at his constant whining and pompous suggestion that HE and ONLY HE was responsible for the band’s success !!! …

Roger , you’re last attempt at an album was lame !! … It’s long been over ! … Retire and spend your 310 million bucks outta our faces !!! …

No one needs a lecture from an old man that is bitter after HE quit the band and that band continued on , quite successfully ! without him …

Give them slopes shit DON !!! …

The US president has repeatedly accused China of failings in its response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Beijing denies the allegation. Earlier this month , the Chinese foreign ministry said the country had ” all along been in good communication and co-operation ” with the WHO and had “never attempted to manipulate the organisation”.

Also in the letter , Mr Trump :

  • Cites reports that the WHO delayed an emergency declaration under pressure from President Xi Jinping
  • Criticises the agency’s praise of China’s ” transparency ” amid its censorship and lack of international co-operation
  • Accuses the WHO of failing to comment on virus-related discrimination against Africans within China
  • Says Dr Tedros could have saved ” many lives ” if he had acted more like Dr Harlem Brundtland , the WHO chief during the Sars outbreak of 2003

Mr Trump , in his conclusion , alleges that ” repeated missteps ” by Dr Tedros and the WHO had been ” extremely costly for the world “…

” The only way forward for the World Health Organization is if it can actually demonstrate independence from China ” his letter says.

Mr Trump then calls for the organisation to commit to ” major substantive improvements ” within 30 days , without clarifying what this means.

MORBNOTE ; The writer of this article seems to miss the ‘ clarity ‘ of the Trumpster’s statement … ” Unless you show me you have stopped kissin’ China’s ass … We’re not gonna finance ya ! ‘ …

Without these changes , the president says , the US will make his temporary freeze of US funding permanent and ” reconsider our membership in the organisation ” altogether …

This is what happens when immigrants get into government positions …

Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux recently admitted that his previous estimate of the debt Canada will face due to coronavirus pandemic relief spending – $252 billion – was too optimistic : our federal debt will in all likelihood shoot up to $1 trillion or more.

Meanwhile , because of coronavirus shutdown measures , Canada’s unemployment rate has risen to 13% ( as compared to 5.5% in January 2020 ) , with two million jobs lost in April.

Many are questioning how we will get on the road to economic recovery , and Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino hinted at an answer earlier this month.

“ Immigration will absolutely be key to our success and our economic recovery … We continue to rely on immigration, it will be an economic driver and this will be the North Star of our policy going forward ” said Mendicino.

It will likely be difficult to convince Canadians facing an unemployment crisis that we should be pleased about resuming the plan to welcome one million new immigrants within the next three years. It’s likely we will soon be facing heavy government messaging trying to convince us of the economic virtues of immigration. When they do , we should have an understanding of the facts.

Mendicino and other immigration enthusiasts often cite Canada’s aging population as the reason why higher immigration levels are required. For Canada’s population to replace itself , we would need a total fertility rate of 2.1 children per woman , but this figure currently sits at 1.54. Canadians are having fewer children , which has caused concern that we will not have enough future workers and taxpayers to fund our social programs. Thus , many proclaim that immigration is the only answer.

As Minister Mendicino said in March , “ immigration is the only solution.”

Mendicino’s predecessor Ahmed Hussen has echoed this sentiment : “ Why do we need immigration ? Well , five million Canadians are set to retire by 2035. And we have fewer people working to support seniors and retirees.”

Gee , I wonder why a fella named Ahmed Hussen would be selling immigration ?! …

However , a policy piece authored by three economists concluded “ immigration is not a solution to demographic problems such as population ageing ” and “ What a large body of evidence indicates is that immigration is neither good nor bad for the economy , as assessed by its impact on the living standards of current citizens.”

Immigration is not a solution to an aging workforce because working-age immigrants bring along dependents such as small children , non-working spouses and parents or grandparents.

According to W. Craig Riddell et al.:

“ … newly arrived immigrants are a net drag on government budgets : they pay less in taxes on average and make average or slightly above average use of government services and benefits. Second-generation immigrants do well , however , which may offset this net drag to some extent , but the initial impact of a large increase in immigration should be expected to be an increase in taxes , a decrease in services , an increase in deficits , or some combination of the three.”

Precisely !!! …

One Large ASSHOLE !!! …

Blake Snell will wish he was never on it.

He said on the social gaming site what a lot of Major League Baseball players are probably thinking. Like him , they’re anxious about risking their health by returning to play and not happy they have to take a pay cut to do so.

But after a rant as ill-advised as it was tone-deaf , Snell is now the poster child for spoiled millionaire ballplayers everywhere.

And , really , let’s face it. He deserves all the vitriol coming his way.

” I’m not playing unless I get mine ’’ Snell proclaimed , saying he would sit out any resumed season if his $7 million pay is cut too much. He said other things , too , but his main point seemed to be that even a pandemic shouldn’t spoil the riches he so richly deserves.

” I’m not splitting no revenue. I want all mine ’’ the 2018 Cy Young winner for Tampa Bay said. “ Bro , y’all got to understand , too , because y’all going to be like : ‘Bro , play for the love of the game. Man, what’s wrong with you , bro ? Money should not be a thing.’ Bro , I’m risking my life. What do you mean , ‘ It should not be a thing ? ’ It 100% should be a thing.”

Well , maybe not 100% , but let’s try and cut the 27-year-old Snell some slack. Maybe he’s been playing video games so much he hasn’t had time to pick up a newspaper or watch the news on TV.

He might not have seen the headlines that 36.5 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the last eight weeks , or the poll that shows 46% without jobs are worried they will not have enough food to make it through the end of the month.

And maybe he didn’t peek into his bank account and notice that $286,500 has already been deposited there for this season without throwing a pitch. He’s also scheduled to get $43,210 for each game — yes, each game — of the schedule should the season resume …
