Constitutional lawyer and Trump impeachment legal team member Alan Dershowitz said Monday that he is ” much more correct right now ” in his current views on what qualifies a president for impeachment than his near-opposite views during the Clinton impeachment.

Dershowitz, a recent addition to President Donald Trump’s team, said Sunday that the framers of the Constitution intended for impeachable conduct to mean ” criminal-like conduct ” and that both of Trump’s charges of obstruction of Congress and abuse of power do not meet the constitutional criteria for impeachment.

But in 1998 , Dershowitz said that a president could be impeached even without being accused of a crime …

” It certainly doesn’t have to be a crime if you have somebody who completely corrupts the office of president and who abuses trust and who poses great danger to our liberty , you don’t need a technical crime ” he said on ” Larry King Live ” at the time.

When asked by CNN’s Anderson Cooper on ” Anderson Cooper 360 ” on Monday whether he was wrong back then , Dershowitz replied , ” I was saying that I am much more correct right now having done all the research , because that’s the issue.”

” I didn’t do research back then , I relied on what professors said … because that issue was not presented in the Clinton impeachment ” Dershowitz said … ” Everybody knew that he was charged with a crime , the issue is whether it was a hard crime. Now the issue is whether a crime or criminal-like behavior is required.”

He continued , ” ‘ve done the research now — I wasn’t wrong ( at the time  ), I am just far more correct now than I was then. I said you didn’t need a technical crime back then. I still don’t think you need a technical crime.”

Senate Republicans have blocked Democratic attempts to call witnesses and gather more evidence in U.S. President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial as the two sides clashed over the proceeding’s rules on its acrimonious first day.

In a 13-hour session that ended shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday , the Republican majority stopped 11 Democratic motions to force the White House , Pentagon and State Department to turn over documents related to Mr. Trump’s campaign to press Ukraine into tarnishing presidential rival Joe Biden. They also voted against compelling testimony from four White House officials , including chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former national security adviser John Bolton.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives impeached Mr. Trump on charges of abuse of office and obstruction of Congress last month. He is accused of withholding nearly US$400-million in American military aid to Ukraine to press Kyiv into helping him take down Mr. Biden, and then stonewalling Congress’s efforts to investigate.

The irony , of course , is that ‘ Mr. Touchy-Feely ‘ Uncle Joe , upon leaving the office of Vice President went on TV in an interview and blatantly bragged about forcing the Ukraine government ( at the time he was acting VP ) to fire a prosecuting attorney that was looking into improprieties of the Ukrainian holding company Burisma , who just happen to have his son , Hunter Biden , on the board …

He did some chest beating about how if they didn’t fire the attorney ,” they wouldn’t get the 1.3 BILLION dollars US in financial military aid !!! …

Basically , the Democrats are all a dither over the fact that the Rebuplicans are using the very same tactics they employed when saving Cigar Willy when he was impeached  …

A Winnipeg-based doughnut shop is defending a decision to buy local after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was criticized over some sweet treats from the business.

On Monday , Trudeau tweeted a picture of himself at Oh Doughnuts , picking up seven boxes of doughnuts from the Winnipeg-based store. He is in Winnipeg for a three-day cabinet retreat which began on Sunday.

Trudeau’s tweet prompted criticism from some Twitter users , who alleged he is using taxpayers’ money to buy these desserts and that he should have gone to Tim Hortons , where the prices are lower.

Although the Canadian spawned company was indeed created by the late hockey star of decades past , it has long been the financial goldmine for a foreign billionaire  … 3G Capital is a global investment firm focused on long-term value creation , with a particular emphasis on maximizing the potential of brands and businesses …

The Brazilian-American multibillion-dollar investment firm , founded in 2004 by Alex Behring , Jorge Paulo Lemann , Carlos Alberto Sicupira , Marcel Herrmann Telles and Roberto Thompson Motta.

Oh Doughnuts , which was tagged in the Tweet from Trudeau and many of the criticism , decided to speak out.

“ I mean obviously it’s a bit sad that a lot of folks would’ve preferred he spend less money , which of course we all would as taxpayers , less money at a not-locally owned business for an inferior product ” said Amanda Kinden , owner-operator of the store.

As for the complaints that Trudeau overpaid and could’ve gotten a dozen doughnuts for around $10 at Tim Hortons, Kinden said she recognizes her doughnuts aren’t for everybody.

“It’s a product that we put a lot of time and good ingredients into and the price reflects that,” she said.

They look a helluva lot more tastier than Timmy’s !!! … And not all that much more in the price department …
