B.C. Liberal MLA Jas Johal withdraws Punjabi remark …

These people have no business being in the government of this country … Period.

And that should be present in our electoral proceedings …

Far too much time is wasted in Parliament as it is without bringing in outside arguments between other foreign groups ..

Liberal MLA Jas Johal raised a few eyebrows when he deployed a Punjabi term to describe his NDP colleagues in the legislative assembly Monday.

Directing his comments to NDP members from Surrey , B.C. , Johal said they were ” not taking care of their members and their constituents.”

” There’s a word in Punjabi called chamcha ” Johal , who is of Punjabi heritage , said ( Speak English asshole ! ). ” It means sycophant. There’s no better term to describe these Surrey MLAs — a bunch of chamchas. They’ve done nothing to advocate for those farmers.”

The word chamcha — which is also found in Hindi — is an informal slang term. While it is defined as ” sycophant ” it is colloquially more akin to ” puppet ” or ” suck-up.”

On Tuesday , Surrey-Panorama NDP MLA Jinny Sims , who is also of Punjabi heritage , asked for Johal to withdraw his comments and apologize.

” I found that language that was used yesterday inflammatory , insulting and totally unacceptable ” Sims said.

Johal withdrew his comment.

According to the 2016 census , 198,805 British Columbians speak Punjabi. It is the most widely spoken language in the province after English.

WHY ?!!! … Oh yeah  … That wonderful ‘ melting pot ‘ theory of the dead Trudeau … The goddamn KBecWAH’s should have been voted to shut up about ‘ their ‘ language a century ago !!! … Canada speaks ENGLISH by rule of the democratic MAJORITY !!! …

ALL OF YA can go back to your country of origin if you feel the need to argue in your pagan ways all ya like … We’re not interested in the least what the society you came from is about …

Let’s see if you’re with me on this …

FINALLY …Trump wins ! … No collusion , no obstruction …

Earlier today Attorney General Barr released a four page summary of the Mueller Report to Congress and media outlets in which he said Mueller concluded was that no American or anyone part of the Trump campaign or administration colluded with Russia :

The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election. As the report states : “ [T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”1

This is what the president has been saying from the very beginning.

As for the accusation that the president obstructed justice when he fired James Comey , AG Barr said there was no evidence that would require pursuing such charges. Media and Democrats , clearly dismayed that the narrative they’ve run on for two years has just blown up in their faces , are focusing everything on this one line :

The Special Counsel states that “ while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

It’s all they’ve got so they’re hanging onto this line like it was a life preserver in a hurricane.

The final page has finally turned on this chapter … But now Trump’s got the pen in hand for Chapter 2 …

I , for one , shall be intently reading …

Eleven men have been charged with child sex offences in Sheffield.

The alleged crimes, including rape and trafficking, were committed in the city between 2010 and 2011 against one victim, South Yorkshire Police said.

All 11, who are mainly from Sheffield, are due to appear before the city’s magistrates on Tuesday.

Police said the charges were part of “an ongoing multi-agency investigation” in the area.

Andrew Scheer’s LavScam fumble …

MACLEANSlogo

Imagine you’re a politician.

Even better , you’re the leader of a political party. The leader of the main opposition party , even. And yet , most Canadians wouldn’t know you if they tripped over you in the tool aisle of the local Canadian Tire.

What to do ?

Especially when the Prime Minister ( your target ) is blessed with a famous name and the considerable advantages of incumbency. How do you shift his spotlight your way ?

Short of lighting yourself on fire or dancing nude in the streets ( or doing both together , I suppose ) there isn’t much any opposition leader can do to up their profile in between election cycles. No , the life of an opposition leader is an endless cycle of low-impact rubber chicken dinners , bingo hall grip and grins and sessions spent asking the Prime Minister questions he never ever answers.

So Andrew Scheer should count himself blessed that Justin Trudeau has lit himself on fire , an exquisitely engineered fire , over SNC-Lavalin. After all , it’s not every day a sitting Prime Minister cripples himself to the point where even Jagmeet Singh risks becoming competitive.

Looked at through a more practical lens : when Trudeau goes is not even Scheer’s call to make in a majority Parliament. Absent a revolt from the Liberal caucus , or perhaps some criminal charges , Trudeau will be Prime Minister come this fall’s federal election. And while Trudeau’s head would be a helluva trophy , it might be better for a severely tainted Trudeau to lead his troops into that fight. Scheer should focus on inflicting a thousand cuts , not trying to land the killer blow.

What the SNC situation now calls for is a calm and systematic destruction of Trudeau’s arguments , such as he’s made them. The people who don’t follow politics need to see a robust defence of Canada’s institutions and constitutional conventions , along with clear reminders of what will be lost should Trudeau be allowed to skate away from the mess he’s made. Thankfully , the federal court and the OECD are already helping on these fronts; there is no need for Conservatives to over-egg the pudding.

I too , thought that was a a political misstep on Scheer’s part … Jumping the gun too quickly … Make it known that ‘ could be where we’re heading ‘ … But project some leadership qualities by allowing all pertinent information come to the fore before making that assertion … The press and critics will toss those big bombs willingly anyway … Plus , if Junior weasels his way out of this , it just becomes fodder for him to fling at the opposition leader making ‘ hasty decisions ‘ …

And to Scheer’s credit , he’s showing signs of a recalibration. The Tories now appear ready to savour Trudeau’s pain like a fine wine , not like a beer in a frat house.

I rather like Andy’s analogy on that one !!! …

With the Prime Minister’s jobs claims now in dispute , the legal arguments for offering a DPA in tatters and his strategy now to stay quiet and suppress all further testimony from either Wilson-Raybould or his staff , Trudeau has painted himself into an ugly corner. Scheer must satisfy himself with keeping Trudeau in that corner and hemming him in even further , not pushing for an outcome he can’t deliver.

In short , Canadians need to look at Scheer and see a Prime Minister in waiting. Someone with their interests at heart and not his own , even if the two intersect.

All parties are dead … Move on !!! …

As the issue of reparations for victims of slavery rages within the Democratic party, and on cable news stations, we encounter a common problem: virtually no one is addressing the specifics of how such a reparations effort would be administered.

Who would receive these reparations payments ? … Who would pay them ? … How would guilt and victimhood be determined ? …

As is usually the case with American policy debates , this ‘ debate ‘ offers little more than an opportunity for pundits and activists to grandstand on related issues such as poverty and race — while avoiding the central topic at hand Support or opposition then becomes nothing more than a matter of affirming one’s political loyalties. The actual issue of reparations — and how they’ll be paid out — is mostly ignored.

It is important to remember, however , that there is nothing necessarily problematic about the idea of paying reparations to the victims of a crime. In fact , the idea is essentially pro-private-property because it attempts to repay a victim for property stolen from him or her by another party.

After al l, any decent legal system would provide for a victim of kidnapping and forced labor to obtain repayment for the time and labor stolen from him by the kidnapper.

But here’s the rub : in order to do this with an eye toward justice, one must identify specific victims and specific perpetrators.

PRECISELY !!! … This is another one I’ve been statin’ the same thing about for decades !!! … Both the perpetrators and victims are ALL DEAD !!! …

Therefore , not only is there no one to ‘ pay restitution ‘ , there is no one that is under any obligation to ‘ apologize ‘ … As our daft PM has taken upon himself to tour Canada doing so …

An acknowledgement is a respectable gesture … Basically … ‘ Nuff said …
