Liberals NEED Conservative playbook for Dairy sector …

Faced with an anxious dairy industry poised to complicate the next federal election for the Liberals — particularly in rural ridings in Quebec and Ontario — the federal Liberals are reviving the previous Conservative government’s compensation plan to ease the pain of recent trade agreements.

Ironic doncha think !!! … Takin a page outta Herr Harper’s playbook !!! … The Libs are really sensin’ an end to there elongated honeymoon with the , now , fed up public ! …

Between trade agreements already in effect — with the European Union and Pacific Rim trading partners — and the still-unratified rewrite of the North American free trade agreement , dairy farmers have said they believe at least ten per cent of Canada’s dairy market has been given up to foreign suppliers going forward.

Poultry and egg farmers are also at risk of losing significant shares of their supply-managed markets to American producers if the new NAFTA proceeds.

This is why we Canadians keep getting hosed by the propped up farmers in Ontario and KBec … Don’t get me wrong , farming is pretty much a 18 hour a day toil , 7 days a week , but … Hey , if ya can’t compete , get outta the business … I’m tired of paying fixed , inflated prices …

In their defense tho …” There’s recognition that harm has been done. And that those revenue losses will be ongoing in the dairy industry ” said David Wiens , who represents Manitoba on the board of the Dairy Farmers of Canada.

While this prospect of help is welcome … ” To be in a situation where we’re having to receive compensation from the government would not have been the choice of any dairy farmer in the country.”

Dairy concessions were the price Canada had to pay to be part of all three of these trade deals. Wiens said farmers were asked to ” take one for the team ” for the sake of the country’s overall economic growth.

Yeah … Trump ‘ out dealed ’em with reality …

But Harper had a plan for that , one which the incoming Liberals chose to ignore  …

Officials said Tuesday that process isn’t over. In the meantime, this federal budget shows what’s being offered to counter the negative effects of both CETA and the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership ( CPTPP ) , both of which took effect at the end of the year:

  • Up to $2.15 billion in ” support to sustain the incomes of eligible dairy , poultry and egg farmers ” that will be ” available in the coming years to deal with income losses associated with these agreements.”
  • A $1.5 billion ” quota value guarantee program ” to protect the value of investments made by farmers if they are forced to sell their quota at reduced prices because new foreign competition has undermined the value of quota in what is now a less-protected market.

It’s the same approach the Tories took to trade compensation :

One pool of funds available for demonstrated income losses and to help rural communities with the transition , and a second pool to protect farmers and commercial lenders ( who may have financed farm investments ) from reduced quota values.

” The structure of it is very similar , almost identical ” said Rachel Curran , who was Stephen Harper’s director of policy at the time. ” It looks like the aid package for farmers was essentially lifted from the 2015 campaign announcement.”

But now that they’re scrambling … They quickly get ‘ right on it ‘ , never having a plan of their own for it from the start ! … And Junior was the one ‘ negotiating ‘ the NAFTA with Trump ! …

The Conservatives’ $4.3 billion package from 2015 was criticized as overly-generous , Curran said. ” It was expected, at that point , that actual losses [ from the TPP ] would not be anywhere near those numbers.”

The concessions made in the new NAFTA are larger than those Canada made to get the former TPP , she noted.

But offering $3.9 billion without real details ? ” This looks like almost a last-minute insertion ” Curran said , calling it a ” defensive cover-off.”

” It’s almost certainly a response to supply-managed farmers , who are well-organized, and well-funded , and they have no hesitation running advertising campaigns against the government or criticizing the government if they feel that they’re not being properly supported ” she said.

” This was almost certainly put in place to forestall that in advance of the 2019 election. Guaranteed.”

You can take that to the bank Rachel !!! …

The Z Blog … So much for democracy …

Democracy can only work if the people in elected office and the political system see the will of the people as legitimate. They have to respect the system as much as the voters , in order for the system to function as designed. The trouble is , democracy selects for the cynically ambitious and sociopaths. The former sees the public as suckers to be fleeced , while the latter simply enjoys lying and deceiving. For democratic politicians , democracy is mostly just a game they play to amuse themselves.

For the public , democracy inevitably becomes a weird game of Russian roulette. In every election , no matter how hard they study the choices , the results are almost random. You vote to leave the EU , and three years later you’re voting on the same issue again or maybe the vote was ignored entirely. People forget that the French voted several times on joining the EU and all of those votes were ignored. In fact , most of what we see happening in the West has never seen any ballot anywhere. Immigration is an obvious example.

At some point , the absurd uncertainty of voting becomes obvious to even the most delusional civic nationalist. It’s why democracy always ends in authoritarianism. The certainty of a dictator , even a bad one , beats the randomness and uncertainty of the democratic process. There are probably plenty of Brits who would welcome the monarch taking control of the government again. Even the daffy Prince Charles is an upgrade over the circus of Parliament. At least the ceremonies would be fun.

Trudeau’s budget is just another act …

So how did it come to this ?

How did we come to have a prime minister who isn’t really a prime minister so much as he plays one on TV ?

For whom the clear meaning of words means nothing ?

Who flip-flops with every passing fad ?

Who , everyone knew — when his university buddy Gerald Butts resigned as his principal secretary over Lavscam — that the real brain in the PMO left along with him.

And let’s make this perfectly clear … Gerry hasn’t gone anywhere … He’s just ‘ officially ‘ stepped aside … If you think for a minute Junior isn’t still constantly talking to and being influenced by his long time college buddy , you HAVE to be one of the far too many morons that voted this twerp in !!! …

Saturday Night Live went all to shit well before my son was born … He’s 30 BTW …

As the weekly target of Saturday Night Live’s “humor,” President Trump’s disgruntlement with the show is understandable. According to a new poll conducted by The Hollywood Reporter and Morning Consult, however , it isn’t just him who has grown weary of SNL’s shtick.

The poll found that 39 percent of the respondents feel that SNL is now ” too political.”

Almost half of the sample feel that the show in its present incarnation is ” more liberal ” while five percent of those polled live in some Bizarro world where they feel it’s ” more conservative.”

The relentless focus on politics in late-night comedy is certainly tedious. Jay Leno recently lamented that very thing in an interview.

The real problem though is that most of it isn’t funny. Political humor is difficult to do well at all , and it is nigh on impossible to pull off consistently , especially when focusing on the same subject … Night after night after night !!! … Station after station after station !!! …

SNL and the weeknight late shows got lazy when Barack Obama became president. His Lightbringer status among the liberal media made him untouchable as a target for humor. What happened as a result was that they essentially just recycled variations of the same ” Sarah Palin is dumb ” joke for eight years even though she wasn’t in office.

If you were to record three weeks’ worth of Kimmel , Colbert , Fallon , and SNL right now you’d see that it’s pretty much the same Trump ” joke ” every night too.

The jokes aren’t really jokes either ; they’re just liberal attack talking points that get applause.

To be sure , the president isn’t off limits when it comes to cracking jokes on television. He isn’t the only source of entertainment in politics , however. As I wrote last week , Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is an almost nonstop gaffe generator. It wouldn’t take me more than an hour to write three skits about her myself. If I were collaborating with others they’d almost write themselves.

I am old enough to remember when humor was the primary objective on Saturday Night Live. Yes , that was a while ago. If that were still what they were after , they’d find plenty of non-presidential fodder for political humor.

Sadly , the only goal now is to be a part of a relentless partisan media propaganda machine. They don’t want to entertain , they want to influence voters. It’s sad , it’s boring , and it alienates half the country.

What will be entertaining is seeing their reactions should President Trump be re-elected.

So true … Baldwin was a reasonably good actor … Now he’s just some bum has been clingin’ on to what moronic fan base he has left …

Hey ‘ LEFT ‘ … Too funny !!! …

Liberals drop SNC-Lavalin study … BUT ! …

The Parliamentary Justice Committee has ended its study on the SNC-Lavalin issue without the further testimony from Jody Wilson-Raybould that opposition MPs had demanded.

While opposition MPs planned to fight for Wilson-Raybould , the former attorney general and justice minister , to testify before the committee for a second time, the Liberals made it clear in advance of the meeting that they had no intention of granting the request.

Once ( safely ! ) gathered behind closed doors on Tuesday , the Liberal MPs on the committee used their majority to end the study.

Opposition MPs took action Tuesday afternoon by slamming their desks in an attempt to stall Finance Minister Bill Morneau’s budget speech.

I’ve always loved this ‘ desk slamming ‘ schtick  from a group of people that justify their ludicrous paychecks by claiming they need that money to get the ‘ high quality ‘ of individuals to run for office !!! … Then behave like pre-adolescents throwing a tantrum at the dinner table !!! …

Junior had this written for him to say … “ It’s disappointing that the Conservatives actually don’t care and don’t know what’s in the actual budget ”…

Well junior , that’s because there’s nothing but unplanned promises of ‘ vote buying ‘ cash giveaways in said budget … And we all know how Liberal promises work … Ex Brat Packer Sheila Copps came out of retirement ( to remind those of us who have some depth of memory retention about this sort of bullshit ) to put in her unwanted buck fifty’s worth of opinion … And she was one of those Liberals who ‘ promised ‘ to get rid of the hated GST !!!! …

We all know how that worked out … Brian’s probably still chuckling over that one …

So now we are left thinking … IS it indeed … OVER ? …

” We pay top dollar for your vote !!! “…

This budget does not balance itself.

In the fourth budget delivered by Finance Minister Bill Morneau , the deficit is set to ring in at $19.8 billion , up from $14.9 billion for last year.

And in the years to come , it is deficits as far as the eye can see.

“ The most important promise we made to Canadians is that we would invest in their futures ” Morneau said when asked why he didn’t keep the promise to balance the books this year.

Forget about all that other bullshit … Focus on this ! …

What exactly the government is investing in isn’t clear. Maybe that’s because they are taking a shotgun approach and spreading money liberally in all directions.

The government will spend $500 million year on a fund for prescription drugs that target rare diseases and will establish an office to look at setting up a national pharmacare plan but won’t actually establish a national pharmacare plan.

They will establish a program through Canada Mortgage and Housing that will commit $1.25 billion over three years on home affordability.

And they will even offer up what they call “ universal high-speed internet.”

Yes , high-speed internet is now a government program and the Trudeau Liberals will spend $5 billion-$6 billion over the next 10 years to build out internet services that meet government standards to rural , remote and northern communities.

Ah Bill … You’re not gonna compete with these Silicon Valley billionaires !!! …

There is even a program to help you get skills training — even if the training you take has nothing to do with your current job.

Finance Minister Bill Morneau had suggested a national program for prescription drugs would be part of the budget ; instead there will be a new national drug agency to look into working with the provinces and territories to drive down costs through bulk purchasing.

“ This would help individual Canadians — such as seniors — and their families afford the medicines they need. It would support the sustainability of the drug plans they rely on today, and pave the way for national pharmacare tomorrow ” Morneau said in the House of Commons.

Again , this is simply a ‘ promise ‘ to ‘ look into it ‘ … He has stated no ‘ concrete ‘ viable plan as to how to go about it … Just spend MORE money by paying a bunch of people to sit around a conference table and chat about it for months , years on end ! …

David MacDonald, senior economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives — a left wing think tank — supports the idea.

“This is a step in the right direction,” MacDonald said.

What direction that would be though isn’t clear. The government is simply going to study the idea and attempt to come up with a national formulary of which drugs are covered in what the government calls “an evidence-based list.”

Well of course !!! … Is a Left wing nutjob !!! …

Clearly this aligns perfectly with Kid Selfie’s ‘ Don’t worry , the budget will balance itself ‘ nonsense and amounts to appealing to the young and uneducated , immigrants and everyone else that’s only interested in handouts …

Really … Despite the enormous , collective cost to the taxpayer … 50 bucks a YEAR … Makes little difference to anyone’s financial situation …

Getting a ‘ tax credit ‘ for a couple hundred bucks annually on a mortgage for almost half a million dollar house is by no means a ‘ deal maker ‘ for putting yourself in , for most people , WAY your head in debt for a house …

Now remember you liberal voting schmucks … Junior ‘ promised ‘ he was going to balance the budget this year to get elected in 2015 …

Do you really think any of THESE ‘ promises ‘ mean diddlyshit as well ?!
