7:47 A.M. Andersen’s ridiculous stick save on Pastrnak can’t be explained …

Mr. Andersen made a save straight out of ‘ The Matrix ‘ …

While Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Frederik Andersen may spell his last name differently from the hero of the sci-fi movie classic , his sprawling save save near the end of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round Series against the Boston Bruins recalled some of the action moves. Andersen had moved to his left as the puck was sent out to the point , nothing to see there , but as the puck was quickly shifted back to Bruins forward David Pastrnak near the net , Andersen somehow dove to his right and stopped the puck clearly ticketed for the wide open , gaping net with the blade of his stick …

How Andersen was able to stop the shot remains a mystery … This is one of those Stanley Cup Playoff plays that no matter how many times you watch it , you still won’t be able to understand the outcome …

It was that type of an effort … Freddie  … AGAIN … Stopping 40 shots !!! … With at least another 2 highlight reel worthy stops under his belt AND Auston to become … Well Austin again ! …

I said to myself that I’d watch the first period only and if I didn’t see a 180 difference in the Leafs ‘ play I won’t put myself thru the whole agony of watching them sink to a 3 – 0 whole ( .. that would be pretty much impossible to climb out of against this Bruin team … ) …

Fortunately , they did … And we now have a series … One that has finally broke the ice for Austin Mathews …

BUT !!! … They have to do it again Thursday … And from here on in … A good test for a good , young team …
