1:06 P.M. 10 Firsts for Canadian Women in Government … Your point ? …

I stumbled across this little tidbit earlier this morning … Had to refute a number of them !!! … I’m by no means a sexist … But let’s try to be realistic about this sort of thing !!! … And where it has taken this society …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT  ;

1921 … Agnes Macphail was the first Canadian woman to be a member of parliament. She was a strong activist for penal reform and founded the Elizabeth Fry Society of Canada, a group working with and for women in the justice system.

It would appear to me that Agnes was at the root of this ‘ rehabilitation ‘ approach to individuals that are basically just being assholes in society … Unless they are referring to her efforts for the men of that day and age to keep it in their pants !!! …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN SENATOR ;

1930 … Cairine Wilson was the first woman appointed to the Canadian Senate, just months after the Persons Case gave women the right to sit in the Senate. It wasn’t until 1953 that another woman was appointed to the Senate in Canada.

The difference in years between the first and second ‘ appointed ‘ woman to the Canadian Senate … 23 years !!! … Basically tells me that Ms Wilson was chosen as a ‘ token ‘ appointment to falsely display change for women in decision making in governing a country …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN FEDERAL CABINET MINISTER ;

1957 … As Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in the Diefenbaker government, Ellen Fairclough was responsible for introducing measures which went a long way towards the elimination of racial discrimination in Canadian immigration policy.

AHHH !!! FAIRCLAW is the DEMON SEED that started Canada on it’s journey of disappearing up its’ own self righteous , liberal thinking , ‘ melting pot ass !!! …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN ON THE SUPREME COURT ;

1982 … Bertha Wilson, the first woman justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, had a strong influence on the application of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. She is well remembered for concurring in the Supreme Court decision overturning Criminal Code of Canada restrictions on abortion in 1988.

Well … Birtha breaks even here … One outta two … But if this is all that this article has to say about ‘ woman’s firsts ‘ here … Big deal !!! … It’s always been religions that have stirred up the bullshit of a woman making here own decision on that matter … And Birtha ( ironic !!! ) made the right call there …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN GOVERNOR GENERAL ;

1984 … Jeanne Sauvé was not only Canada’s first Canadian woman Governor General, she was also one of the three first women members of parliament to be elected from Quebec, the first woman federal cabinet minister from Quebec, and the first woman Speaker of the House of Commons.

The combination of scoring political points with the female voter and the continual catering to Kbec !!! … I could just go on far too long !!! … So I’ll leave this historically mediocre appointment at that …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN FEDERAL PARTY LEADER ;

1989 … Audrey McLaughlin went north looking for adventure, and became the first NDP member of parliament for the Yukon. She went on to be elected leader of the federal New Democratic Party and the first woman leader of a federal Canadian political party.

I’ll give her credit for becoming the first leader of a federal party … But like the second last individual on this … Auds was a ‘ Hail Mary ‘ from a distant third party entity scrounging for votes … And she had to move to Buttfuck Yukon to get elected !!! …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN PREMIER ;

1991 … Most of Rita Johnston’s political career was as a municipal councillor in Surrey, British Columbia, but her foray into provincial politics landed her several cabinet minister posts and a short stint as Premier of British Columbia.

The key adjective here … ‘ short ‘ … Describing how long she lasted … Pretty much sums it up …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN IN SPACE ;

1992 … A neurology researcher, Roberta Bondar was one of the six original Canadian astronauts selected in 1984 to train at NASA. Eight years later she became the first Canadian woman and the second Canadian astronaut to go into space.

This is the ‘ ONE ‘ I can agree with …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN PRIME MINISTER ;

1993 … Although popular at the start of her brief tenure as Prime Minister, Kim Campbell led the Progressive Conservative Party to the greatest defeat in Canadian political history.

Ya see … Now this is another prime example of the use of ‘ adjectives ‘ … Even the writer of this article acknowledges that her ‘ tenure as Prime Minister ‘ was ‘ brief ‘  … But I must point out … YET AGAIN !!! … She was NEVER elected Prime Minister !!! … Absolutely NO MANDATE of any sort from the electorate … Simply easily won the leadership of a governing party that was going down in flames and pulled a similar ‘ hail Mary ‘ as the the NDP  a few years earlier … And what did it get them ? … The worst political defeat in Canadian history !!! …

FIRST CANADIAN WOMAN CHIEF JUSTICE ;

2000 Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin, the first woman to head the Supreme Court of Canada, has tried to improve public understanding of the role of the Supreme Court and the judiciary in Canada.

Well Bev … If you think anything like that other woman judge that decided a home owner had to cater to foreign religious beliefs over his right to receive his proper rent payment on time … And ‘ fine ‘ him 12,000.00 for the crime of wearing shoes in his own house  … On his own property … You’re really not helping anyone ‘ understand ‘ the role of the court system in Canada …

Sorry girls … But other than Roberta … Who had the valuable assistance of learning from the many men that preceded her … The rest of them are pretty much ducks on crutches !!! …

IMHO …
