7:48 A.M. People need to THINK !! …

The following is from the |Calgary Herald … Somewhat echoes my thoughts ;

While many believe that Prime Minister Stephen Harper got the politics of the situation wrong , I believe he was technically correct in his reactions to the crisis … What he got right is the extremely difficult and complex nature of this crisis … It is a classic ‘ nested ‘ issue :

There are many layers of complexity and I believe that Stephen Harper ( the policy wonk who chairs cabinet and who reads every briefing note ) reacted like a technocrat who was all too familiar with the complexity of the situation … But he forgot that the rest of us do not know what he knows …

MORBNOTE ; I don’t agree with that point …

Stephen Harper the politician might not have had his pulse on the ‘ popular ‘ opinion , but he certainly knew his base’s opinion … What he also got right is that the refugees and migrants from ISIS-controlled areas in Syria and Iraq are fleeing ravaged areas , where bad guys are fighting even worse guys , and that the solution to the crisis has to happen ‘ over there ‘ …

MORBNOTE II ; PRECISELY !!! … SORT THE DAMN THING OUT AMONG YOURSELVES !!! …  When you become a civilized group of people … Then make the proper effort to join the modern world !!! …

But the crisis won’t be solved easily , especially since Russia and Iran are reported to have sent troops and weapons in support of Assad … It will not get any better , so the four million war refugees are sure to climb in numbers … Complicating the situation is that many European countries , with the exception of Germany , are not keen on accepting them due to their own negative experiences in assimilating hundreds of thousands of Muslims and weary of shouldering the burden in light of their own economic stagnation … And also true , the Gulf States don’t want to import Syrian problems , and Syrian Sunni Muslims , into their fragile states … Once you get past the complex regional problems happening on the other side of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean , there is also the real-life problem that resettling government-sponsored refugees is complex and process driven ;

There is UN involvement to certify refugees ;

i ) Security checks to ensure that no war criminals or terrorists are slipping through …

ii ) The funding and capacity for offering language and cultural training …

iii ) Health care and social safety nets until the refugees can fend for themselves …

Even the United States is only admitting 10,000 over two years because of the time it takes to verify the security bona fides of all the immigrants …

Stephen Harper’s lack of immediate action on this crisis reflects his understanding of these real-world barriers …

We currently have far too many unwelcome refugees costing us far too much money to deal with at the moment …

We need to alter the requirements that individuals must meet and maintain if they expect to have any chance of … OVER TIME … Being granted the same rights and freedoms that this country has democratically forged and worked for …
